Eurostar CCTV

In a £250k-plus order, the new Eurostar interchange stations at Dartford International in Ebbsfleet and Stratford International are to have a 130-camera CCTV system.

Manufacturer Bosch are providing cameras and housings, video switching, monitors and control room equipment. The system includes Dinion cameras with 540 TV line resolution; standard resolution Dinions and AutoDomes and EnviroDomes. The manufacturer’s Allegiant switching matri is capable of handling up to 256 cameras and 64 monitors, nine 16-channel Divar digital video recorders linked to provide some 3 Terabytes of storage. The manufacturer reports that this follows other contacts to provide CCTV for London’s mainline stations, bridges, the Underground and traffic and motorway schemes in and around London. Bosch also assisted with design and commissioning.

About the project

The building of the new Stratford and Dartford interchanges is part of the project to switch the Eurostar service from Waterloo International station to a new line terminating at St Pancras International. The new route will reduce journey times form London to Paris to two hours 35 minutes.  London-Brussels will be one hour 51 minutes. Contractors involved in the project include the Costain, O’Rourke, Skanska/Bachy-Soletanche, Emcor Rail (CORBER) joint venture which won phase two of the £5.2bn Channel Tunnel Rail Link contract covering links from Stratford, east London and the extension of St Pancras Station.
