LPCB’s physical security man Richard Flint was among those speaking at the Counter Terror Expo 2011 conference.
Richard’s presentation looked at the holistic approach to security design and specification to ensure that the designer and end user accurately considers the security risks for a modern building and to establish the choice of standards required to mitigate the risks identified.
Richard Flint, said: “Counter Terror Expo provides a forum for like minded people to interact, discuss current issues and to move forward in providing better ways to protect against the emerging threats. Products listed by LPCB in the Red Book ‘list of approved products and services’ provide effective solutions to many of the risk areas currently under threat. The ongoing factory surveillance visits and audit sample testing carried out by LPCB on the approved security products, ensures that unauthorised changes are not made to the product which may affect security performance when it is most needed.”
The conference theme was ‘Designing out Terrorism’ and covered the importance of protecting building occupants and assets. Security standards play a vital role in this area, as physical security will deter, delay or prevent an attack.
The LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are specified to protect Government, commercial, retail, industrial, transportation, utility and critical national infrastructure locations and premises.
