Factory Secured

by Msecadm4921

Genie CCTV has supported Guest Security, a West Country-based security and fire systems installer, in protecting its client Garador Ltd’s factory in Yeovil, Somerset.

The plant produces up-and-over garage doors and accessories. Guest Security’s MD, Clive Guest, explains that Garador’s works is located next to a main arterial road leading out of Yeovil, with this main transport link requiring particular risk assessment measures. Having won the contract to both install and maintain an upgraded security system at the 13,000m_+ site, Clive’s team talked to Genie CCTV about deploying dedicated surveillance equipment.

This led to the specification of specialist systems including Genie’s IP 66-rated Intus ZD2812 high-res day/night cameras, which boast features including 560TV lines resolution, an impact resistant housing and digital noise reduction. Genie’s Dynapel Closeview multiple object tracking system has also been deployed, operating with Interceptor speed dome cameras. The Closeview system watches the wide-angled video from a reference camera in real-time, acting like an electronic security guard – when motion is detected in the field of view it automatically directs a PTZ camera to zoom in to look at and track the activity. Closeview can even identify multiple targets and sequentially move from target to target. It deploys an alarm output to trigger camera image recording too.

"Using Genie’s surveillance equipment we can track potential targets around Garador’s large manufacturing buildings," says Clive Guest. "Its proximity to the main arterial road means we also need to keep a close check on transport deliveries in and out of the site and the cameras’ quality images can be used to check on vehicle registration plates and the individual identities of the drivers.

"We source everything we need from Genie, as a one-stop supplier for our surveillance requirements, and receive good service from the company as well as high quality systems at affordable prices. Genie staff also provided invaluable back-up when we were setting up the Garador system. By sourcing equipment from one range, our customers also benefit from added value in terms of equipment compatibility and operational performance."

Uwe Ruffing, Production Director at Garador, adds that the company’s previous security required upgrading: "Some copper cables were stolen last year from the site and we weren’t able to identify the culprits from the existing CCTV recordings. The previous cameras did not pick up all necessary movements either. We are pleased with the new cctv system from Guest Security and the much better images the latest surveillance measures provide."

Clive Guest set up his Yeovil-based installation firm in 1990 and also specialises in intruder and fire alarms, access control and smoke security systems. The NACOSS Gold company covers Somerset, Dorset and parts of Devon, as an installer and systems integrator providing design, commissioning and maintenance services to a variety of domestic, commercial and industrial clients. These include schools, local authorities and MOD establishments such as the 1000-acre Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton.

"The team at Genie CCTV are very pleased to have been able to work with Guest Security on this prestigious contract for Garador, where the operational advantages of the sophisticated Dynapel Closeview tracking system have been seen again to such good effect," says Binit Shah, Marketing Manager at Genie.
