Make sure:

You don’t leave bags open or on the backs of chairs
You are vigilant when withdrawing money at cash points
You never carry your PIN number with your card
Mobile phones and iPods are not left lying on pub or cafe tables
Laptops are not left unattended.
City of London Police A/Insp Shane Lee added: “Please remember to keep your purse in a secure and closed handbag, don’t leave it on top of an open bag, this can be an open invitation to a thief. If possible do use a chain, they do help prevent crime and give people peace of mind too. Remember. If you see someone acting suspiciously please call the police straight away.”
