The cost of policing the city of London and the financial war against terrorists were among the weighty subjects of an event at Birmingham Business School at the University of Birmingham.
The Financial and Regulatory Crime Club seminar was entitled: Internal Controls: Fighting Financial Crime from Within, on 19 October. The event looked at the exposure of financial institutions, and those who manage and advise them, to the legal and regulatory initiatives designed to disrupt organised crime and terroristsโ finances.
Speakers at the event, which will be chaired by Prof Andy Mullineux, Professor of Global Finance at Birmingham Business School, included: Prof Barry Rider, a Consultant at Beachcroft Wansbroughs, Dr Chizu Nakajiima, Director of the Centre for Financial Regulation and Crime at Cass Business School, London, and John Tracey, Director of Foresnic Services at Price WaterhouseCoopers.
The Financial and Regulatory Crime Club (FARC) draws together people in all aspects of preventing and controlling financial crime and abuse from a diversity of professions and backgrounds, supported by academic and research organisations.
