Axis Communications (at hall 20, Booth N105) is showing five new network video products at IFSEC 2005, at Birmingham NEC from May 16 to 19.
The launches include new software for the AXIS Camera Station which assists viewing and playback of video in poor weather, two new dome cameras and a two-way audio and Power over Ethernet-enabled network camera. The AXIS Image Enhancer software will be bundled with AXIS Camera Station software. This software uses algorithms to draw out and fine-tune images that would otherwise be hidden by poor visibility conditions such as heavy rain, snow, strong winds, fog or smog, the makers report.
From March AXIS 211A Network Camera will also be shipping. This camera combines two-way audio capability with simultaneous full frame rate M-JPEG and MPEG-4 with varifocal auto iris lens, integrated Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af compliant), event handling with built-in video motion detection. This scan camera is optimised for indoor and outdoor environments, the makers say, and is suitable for use in airports, manufacturing plants and public buildings in particular, the firm says.
The AXIS 231D and 232D deliver full frame rate M-JPEG video with the capability to remotely control pan, tilt and zoom functions over an IP network such as a Local Area Network or the internet. The network dome cameras will also support simultaneous transmission of video in MPEG-4 mode.
The AXIS 232D is an extension of the AXIS 231D. While both provide colour video in light conditions down to 0.3 lux, the AXIS 232D goes further to provide light-sensitive black and white video in dark conditions as low as 0.005 lux, according to the makers. As such, the AXIS 232D is a true day/night camera that is designed particularly for outdoor use, the makers add.
In addition the AXIS 221 Network Camera is available from March and will be demonstrated at the show. It features an automatic, removable infrared-cut filter, which enables the camera to provide colour video when there is sufficient light, and black and white video in dark conditions. It uses a Pentax lens and a progressive scan CCD image sensor so that moving objects can be presented without distortion. In addition to full frame rate support at all resolutions, the AXIS 221 offers simultaneous M-JPEG and advanced MPEG-4 video streams to optimise image quality and bandwidth efficiency.
What they say
Dominic Bruning, managing director, Axis Communications UK Limited, said: “These new products are part of a large number of next generation products that we are unveiling this year. They help extend our lead in the network video market and ensure that we continue to offer the broadest possible range of high quality network video products and software covering all surveillance scenarios.” All these new products will be available through Axis’ distribution channels.
