A council has teamed up with residents to get tough on persistent fly-tipping close to a busy shopping area.
A variety of waste has been left alongside the recycling banks off Clay Lane, Stoke, Coventry over the last few months.
Much of it is suspected to come from businesses dumping rubbish rather than paying for it to be disposed of correctly through a waste contract.
It led to one business being fined more than £2,000 in February after being caught on CCTV camera dumping rubbish at the site last year.
Coventry City Council put up signs in the area warning that people will be prosecuted if they illegally fly tip in the area.
Barbara Hillyer, who lived in the area for 30 years, said the problem had got worse over the last couple of years.
"I am not sure why it is but people from businesses in particular seem to be dumping their rubbish around the recycling banks here," the 74-year-old said.
"We have had all sorts here and it has become an almost constant problem over the last few months and years and I am pleased that the council is doing something to stop this."
Joy Adams, Coventry City Council’s Principal Officer in its Environmental Crime Unit, said fly-tipping would not be tolerated.
"The recycling area in Clay Lane has become a hotspot for dumping rubbish and we are determined to stamp this out," she said.
"The site is for householders to use and it unfair for businesses who think they can get away with dumping their waste free of charge at these sites."
