A new maintenance module has been added to FM Desktop 6.0, a Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) application suite.
"Organisations are changing the ways that maintenance work requests are now submitted," says Wendy Lloyd, Brand Manager of MASS Systems. "Employees within an organisation need an easy and intuitive way to submit work requests to the facilities and maintenance managers".
Facility Request is a web based work request submission application that can be easily installed on any employeeโs computer. It allows users to complete, submit and check the status of their work requests. Facility Request connects to the FM Desktop database to maintain and distribute work request information.
Wendy Lloyd says: "Facility Request is easy to implement, simple to use, and inexpensive to acquire. Facility Requestโs Microsoft Outlook architecture makes it extremely easy to navigate and use. This module conforms to FM Desktop "keep it simple" design paradigm".
Using the Facility Work Request form, anyone with a browser and permissions can request work to be done for a specific location, the makers add. Employees need to complete a few simple fields and submit the request to Facility Manager, the firm adds. A work request will be created in the Facility Manager database ready for the maintenance staff to process. With the Request Status feature, users can call up any work previously submitted to check on its status.
Bob Fahlin, President and CTO of FM Desktop developers, Applied Spatial Technologies, comments on the work request enhancements in Version 6: "Improving our work request capability to include web based work requests was a natural extension of what we were already doing; FM Desktop already handles demand work orders very well, and our Users really wanted us to extend its functionality to include web based request submission tools. Our product development is always driven by our users; this was one request we heard repeatedly, and now weโve responded with a uniquely affordable and functional addition".
The FM Desktop suite is, according to MASS, a CAFM solution used for Space Management, Asset Management, Emergency Management, and Maintenance Management. FM Desktop comprises of modular components that allow organisations to deploy an FM solution that suits their specific facilities management needs and budget, it is claimed. FM Desktop may be installed on a single, stand alone PC, deployed as an enterprise solution across the organisationโs corporate network, or deployed on the internet.
