G4S Recruits For 2012

by msecadm4921

G4S, the official security provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is opening the doors of its new London 2012 Recruitment Centre today. The contractor says it’s launching the biggest paid recruitment drive this century.

G4S will recruit around 10,000 security staff to work at the London 2012 Games this summer and at the launch event today, Mark Hamilton, the managing director of the G4S Olympic and Paralympic security operation, and Paul Deighton, chief executive of the Games Organising Committee, LOCOG, said how they are working together to recruit the workforce which will help to deliver a safe and secure Games.

The thousands of roles are providing much needed jobs and opportunities for UK job seekers, with G4S recruiting from a broad range of backgrounds, ages and experience levels. Already there have been applications from more than 20,000 hopeful recruits, many from London.

Candidates will be asked to attend an interview at the recruitment centre, where they will go through screening and vetting before their application is submitted to LOCOG for accreditation. The recruitment centre will also serve as a training site, where new recruits will go through role-specific training to ensure they’re fully prepared for the London 2012 Games.

Mark Hamilton, Managing Director of G4S Security Personnel, says: “As London prepares to play host to the rest of the world, G4S is thrilled to be giving something back to the capital. Our recruitment drive offers unique employment opportunities to thousands of Britons, allowing them to get closer to the excitement and play an important role in delivering a safe and secure London 2012 Games. In addition, our training will provide successful applicants with a professional security services qualification that will kick-start their careers in the sector post-2012. During the London Games, G4S employees will carry out a variety of tasks including bag and vehicle searching.”

Paul Deighton, LOCOG Chief Executive, added: “This recruitment drive offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for Londoners to take part in a world-class event and is a great way of bringing jobs to London and the UK.”

Since the start of the Olympic and Paralympic test events in July 2011, G4S has helped to ensure the running of events such as Basketball, Sailing and Archery.
