Glass Firms FM Deal

by Msecadm4921

The glass manufacturer Pilkington has extended its contract with contractor Sodexo to now include a full range of hard and soft facilities management (FM) services at eight of the company’s UK sites.

The multi-million pound contract sees Sodexo providing a fully integrated FM service to Pilkington including mechanical and electrical (M&E), security, catering, cleaning, building and grounds maintenance and sewerage management services.

France-based Sodexo says that its partnership with Pilkington started 20 years ago with catering services at two of Pilkington’s sites. Now, Sodexo is providing services to around 2,200 employees at six sites in the St Helen’s area, including the company’s head office in Lathom, one site in Merseyside and one in Salford.

Neil Murray, managing director for Sodexo Corporate Services, said: “Self-delivery of multiple services under an integrated management model allows us to create real value for our clients. We are delighted to have extended our relationship with Pilkington from what was once a catering-only contract to a comprehensive service solution, designed to meet today’s demanding market needs.”

Paul Beard, UK procurement manager at Pilkington, said: “Pilkington is extremely pleased with the level and quality of service provided by Sodexo over the years. I have personally been impressed with the professionalism demonstrated by the company during the implementation phase of the new integrated facilities management contract. I am looking forward to working closely with Sodexo and I am confident that the company will demonstrate the same level of commitment that they have recently shown to enable us to achieve our targets.”
