Glos Police Hotel Offer

by Msecadm4921

A new concept in overnight accommodation is being launched in Gloucestershire. The Scorpion Hotel is being marketed as being ‚Äòin a convenient location with lots of bars‚Äô….

With its ‚Äòminimalist chic‚Äô décor and ‚Äòbeautifully paved grounds‚Äô demand is expected to be high over the festive season. But rest assured, if one Scorpion Hotel is full, space can always be found at another branch in the county.

While this might all seem very tempting, the detail is in the small print.

The ‘hotel’ is actually a police cell block and anyone staying there will have been arrested.

Superintendent Rob Priddy, who is coordinating Operation Scorpion, said: “The Scorpion Hotel idea is a light hearted way of raising awareness of a serious subject.

“Police cells are about as far removed from hotel rooms as you could get, and our Scorpion Hotel campaign is a warning of the type of ‘accommodation’ on offer if anyone over steps the mark in the run up to and over Christmas.

“Christmas should be a time to enjoy ourselves and spend time with family and friends. We want everyone to be able to do that, so we’ll be taking tough action against anyone looking to cause trouble or commit crime during the festive season.

“Whether a crime is being committed out on the streets, in a pub or club, or even in the home, the Scorpion Hotel is just waiting for ‘guests’ and we will continue with our proportionate, but where necessary, robust approach towards offenders this Christmas.”

The Scorpion Hotel is being marketed with leaflets and a poster campaign in pubs and clubs around the county. The posters feature a mirror with prison bars on it, so anyone looking at it can imagine themselves in a police cell.

Among the facilities on offer at the Scorpion Hotel are:

Telephone (one call only per guest).
(CC) TV in all rooms.
Sturdy locks on all rooms as standard.
Wipe-clean mattresses.
Free shuttle bus to the doorstep (with secure cage).
All guests entered on to our national database.
All major credit cards and belongings confiscated.
As the outcome of a stay potential ‘guests’ are told they may:

Pay an £80 fixed penalty notice.
Pay a fine of up to £5,000.
Receive a criminal record.
Receive a prison sentence.
Lose their job.
Be named and shamed in the local press.
Be banned from all pubs and clubs.
Experience a relationship breakdown.
