Managers from across the public services are tackling the problem of violence – and how to make a risk assessment of it – at a London conference on November 21. Among the speakers are:
– Alan Millership, Head of Security at the University of Reading, a speaker on attacks on students at the Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) conference in Sheffield in September;
– Aidan Harris, Employee Relations Manager, London Underground, on how the Tube is recording incidents – taking revenue control staff as a case study – and raising awareness, and acting;
Dr Phil Leather, Head of the Violence Research Group at the University of Nottingham;
Chris Davies, Corporate Director of Somerset County Council Social Services, on the National Task Force on Violence against social care staff, that he chairs;
Chris Cox, Assistant Director of Legal Services, Royal College of Nursing, on employers? legal obligations; and
– Danielle Proctor, Assitant Director of Workforce Development, Wakefield West Primary Care Trust, on making policy, and gathering staff feedback.
