In Hampshire, police officers from the St Faith’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team have set a Business Watch scheme in Havant.
Officers will be running a Business Crime Reduction event on Wednesday, July 1 at Langstone Technology Park between midday and 3pm.
Companies and organisations are being invited to attend the event to exhibit and promote their crime reduction initiatives and equipment and representatives from local businesses in the area will be invited to attend, as well as residents’ groups, councillors and Neighbourhood Watch members.
The event, which is supported by Smartwater and Fasset, is free to attend and will provide people from local businesses with information and guidance on crime prevention.
PC Anita George, said: “We have really tried to promote the Business Watch scheme and improve relations with the Business community to encourage information gathering and crime prevention.”
PCSO Tom Neale, said: “The business watch scheme has been running since the start of the year. I give a monthly briefing to the businesses, discussing any crimes that have occurred on the park and giving advice and information. So far it has proven to be an excellent way of us improving communications and a number of businesses have contacted me with useful information. This feedback has been excellent and of great use to us in the St Faiths Safer Neighbourhoods Team.”
Kieran Madden, Police Liaison Manager for Smartwater Technology Ltd, said: “The SmartWater brand is well known amongst criminals and will act as a powerful and longstanding deterrent to criminals operating locally. “SmartWater fully recognises the important role that Business Watch plays in helping to suppress crime, therefore we are delighted to support this initiative.”
If you are a local business person and would like to attend the event but have not already received an invitation please contact the St Faiths Safer Neighbourhoods Team on 0845 045 45 45.
