US-based manufacturer of contactless access control cards and readers for the security industry HID Corporation, and GE’s Security business have announced that the companies have signed an agreement granting GE a worldwide, non-exclusive license for HID’s proximity technology.
Although the firms report that details of the license agreement for HID’s intellectual property cannot be disclosed, GE will develop, manufacture, and market access control reader products that are compatible with HID proximity cards.
What they say
"GE is adding HID proximity compatibility to its revolutionary new multi-technology Transition reader line. This cooperative agreement symbolises a bridging effort needed in the security industry to accelerate open technology adoption," said George Martinez, director of product management for GE Security Engineered Systems.
Mark Scaparro, executive vice president of worldwide sales for HID, said: “The agreement between HID and GE is a positive response to access control users’ requirements for interoperability and compatibility with industry standards and indicates HID’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with market leaders in delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions for the security industry.”
