If while watching the TV series Holby City, you can take your eyes off the medical characters, you may spot the electronic, intelligent key management system.
It was supplied by product firm Traka for the set of the BBC1 hospital drama, set in the fictional city of Holby (in fact Bristol). The company’s key control products are in use at real hospitals, such as Cromwell and Kemple View, besides recent installations at Leicester, and Nottingham Trent, universities; Welsh Water; Fiddlers Ferry Power Station; The O2 at Greenwich; the British Library; E-ON Energy; and BP. The Bickinghamshire-based firm offers key cabinets from a 10-key system to networked cabinets capable of supporting thousands of keys; the Immobilisor for vehicle and building control; Micro Traka for auditing access to specific areas, individual key boxes for use remotely; and a range of lockers.
