Launched in Manchester: a hotel security guide aimed at assisting hoteliers, especially those who do not have a dedicated security manager.
The guide is already drawing interest from other police forces who are loking at using the docment themselves,
The writter was Stuart Pizzey MBE, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Crime Reduction Advisor based at Bootle Street Police Station in the city centre, with contributions from Allan Tweedale the Chair of the Hotel Security Information Group (HOSIG).
The guide has been funded by HOSIG and the Manchester city centre crime prevention panel and sufficient copies have been created for a significant number of hotels in GMP. The Guide has the full backing of the Manchester Hoteliers Assosciation (MHA) chaired by Stehen Miles General manager of the five-star Edwardian Radisson Hotel in Manchester.
The guide was complied and printed by the forces own Design and Print Unit . A PDF of the booklet is to be located at the Force Design For Crime Unit (formerly the ALO Unit) for use, It has also been submitted to ACPO CPI for use as well.
Said Stuart: "Originally we planned a 10 page doument , but as more request for subjects to be covered were submitted, we soon found that the guide had developed into a 50 page document."
And Allan Tweedale Chair of HOSIG said: "I know that this guide will become an invaluable asset to any and all hotels." The photo shows Stu Pizzey of GMP, Allan Tweeedale, Supt Jim Ligget NMDiv, and Simon Davis of ARORA Hotel of the Manchester Hotelier Association
