IFSEC: Axis Communications

by Msecadm4921

Axis Communications has introduced an indoor pan/tilt/zoom dome camera with 35x zoom, wider picture with extended D1 resolution.

The AXIS Q6032 PTZ dome, which has an IP52-rated protection against dust and dripping water, is the Swedish company says suitable for use in airports, train stations, shopping malls and conference centres.

Erik Frännlid, Axisโ€™ Director of Product Management, says: โ€œAXIS Q6032 provides high video quality, fast and robust pan/tilt capability for wide area coverage, and a powerful zoom that enables facial identification some 150 m (490 ft.) away. With AXIS Q6032, we are also the first to introduce an extended D1 resolution.โ€

The product offers a wider picture with an extended D1 resolution of 736×480 pixels in 60 Hz and 736×576 pixels in 50 Hz, enabling an increase of roughly 7700 and 9200 pixels, respectively, over standard D1 resolution, which has a pixel width of only 720 pixels. The dome provides 35x optical and 12x digital zoom with autofocus. It enables continuous 360 degree pan at a speed of 0.05 degree to 450 degree per second and a tilt range of 180 degree. A new tour recording functionality enables set-up of automatic guard tour operations by enabling an operatorโ€™s pan/tilt/zoom movements, including the length of time spent between positions, to be recorded and replayed at a touch of a button or at a scheduled time.

The cameraโ€™s day and night functionality allows image quality to be maintained even in low light the makers say, while support for wide dynamic range enables objects in both dark and light areas of a scene to be visible. The Q6032 can deliver multiple H.264 and Motion JPEG video streams simultaneously. H.264 optimises bandwidth and storage use without compromising image quality.

The camera supports High Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3at), which simplifies installation since only one cable is required for power, video and PTZ controls, according to the makers. A High PoE midspan is supplied with the camera.

The product features the Active Gatekeeper functionality, which enables the camera to automatically move to a pre-set position when motion is detected in a pre-defined area and then track the detected object. The camera supports two-way audio and audio detection, and inputs/outputs for connection to devices such as sensors and relays. The cameraโ€™s SD/SDHC slot enables recordings to be stored locally.
