The January event saw attenders from 46 countries. IIPSEC Director Paul Hennings said: “The continued support of our exhibitors and sponsors has been vindicated as attendance at IIPSEC 2005 tops 3,000 over the three day event with nearly one in six visiting from overseas."

The Stoneleigh Park venue near Coventry saw 24 separate case study presentations, 16 technical sessions, 12 workshops and the one-day IP convergence conference; besides free digitally analysed golfing lessons, and internet café.
Who visited
Some 2,994 delegates from 46 countries visited the show, many flying in, the event organisers report. The breakdown was 50pc installers, solution providers, consultants, specifiers and end users, 30pc Distributors and VARs [value added resellers] and 20pc Manufacturers. Interest in Video-over IP was still reported to be most important at 52pc but access control and integration showed an increased interest to 17pc. Remote Monitoring and Software interest was also up on last year at 8pc overall.
Show highlights
Dedicated Micros launched bespoke DV-IP Server technology for specific market sectors including the new DV-IP ATM, the subject of Dedicated Micros’ IP in Action show seminar. The inherent flexibility of the DV-IP Server range makes it a building block for any multi-site application, DM reported. Bosch Security Systems offered the DVR1A which is claimed has greater capacity than VHS-based systems. The recorder hard disk has a capacity of 80 GB, equivalent to approximately four video tapes. This allows continuous or time-lapse recording for up to a week or even longer. Axis Communications launched two new additions to the range – the Axis 211A offered two way audio and MPEG and MPEG-4 video streams and the Axis 221 will be the Companies new flagship. BT offered managed CCTV, bringing together it is claimed intelligence, service level guarantees and financial stability. The COE stand featured X-Class system and is claimed to offer real-time analogue –equivalent video utilising MPEG-4 compression. VDT products included the MemoCam and Net IP on display. SeeFAR are a new company which launched ‘BuildingMINDER’ a brand new concept which offers Corporate IT the benefits of outsourcing dedicated service centres which monitor and manages buildings. Servision was demonstrating its new ruggedised vehicle mounted IVG product that provides continuous streaming of high quality video from up to 4 cameras from a moving vehicle. FLIR released its FLIR.217 a thermo vision IP based camera with IEEE01394 FireWire and Ethernet connection. JVC launched two new DVR’s both models offer 10/100 BaseT network access for complete IP integration. Milestone stand offered something different with the CISCO ‘Connect Car’. The Volvo vehicle which was driven over to the show by some of the Milestone team was bristling with technology. Framos exhibited a range of IP, Ethernet, USB2 and FireWire cameras and associated products.
Award winners
The IP in Security Innovation Awards were introduced at the 2004 show to recognise new products, services and developments of IP technology within the security industry. Category winners were Cieffe for their Vision Pocket software; IP Control Systems for their Ingenium IP Lock Controller hardware; and DV Tel for their application in the City of Westminster, ‘Wireless City’. DV Tel was also named as overall winner.
