Infra-red Illuminators

Derwent CCTV report that their line-up of infra-red illuminators has been expanded.

Derwent CCTV report that their line-up of infra-red illuminators has been expanded, to cover more applications, from a model that fits into a light switch for home automation, to an explosion-proof unit for hazardous industrial environments. New for 2003 is the SuperLED, a long-life model. This product has found application in anti-terrorist policing, say Derwent. Night-time performance to a distance of 175m can be achieved for more than five year, the firm says. Meanwhile, the firm has some ten infra-red models offering night vision. Recent applications include the retro-fit of standard mains-driven IR lamps with Derwent?s Uniflood range, resulting in savings in running costs, the firm says. The firm points out that video motion detection requires useable video in all light conditions, to trigger alarms. Without infra-red, a dark night scene would remain dark to CCTV cameras; the pictures would suffer from shadows, signal noise and loss of focus, which can lead to unreliable alarming functions, Derwent add.
