Installer Awards

by Msecadm4921

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is inviting nominations from electronic security companies and colleges for its Apprentice Security System Installer Awards 2005, sponsored for a third year by Jobcentre Plus.

The awards highlight the crucial role that training plays in equipping young people with the necessary skills to become quality security systems installers. Three national winners will be selected to receive their awards at the BSIA’s annual luncheon on June 22 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

BSIA Chief Executive, David Dickinson says: "Nominees for these awards will have shown outstanding aptitude on their courses. They will be committed to quality, have a strong grasp of theory and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. The awards serve to encourage the apprentices as they are just starting out in their careers and also pay tribute to the valuable support of security companies, colleges and other training providers." Sue Moore, Employer Services Director, Jobcentre Plus adds: "Jobcentre Plus is delighted to be once more sponsoring the awards, which recognise the dedication and enthusiasm of new apprentices and highlight the job opportunities available within the sector to a wider audience."

About nominations

Nominations are invited from security companies certified for their installation activities by a UKAS accredited body. Installers of intruder alarms, closed circuit television and access control equipment are all eligible. The awards are more suited, the association says, to the level of a third year apprentice, but particularly outstanding second year candidates will also be considered. Deadline for nominations is April 4. Nominations may also be submitted by colleges. Application forms are available to download in electronic format. Or contact Christine Brooks on 01905 727707, [email protected] to receive an application form by post.
