Interpol Symposium

An Interpol symposium for the worldwide heads of police training has a UK speaker.

The 15th Interpol Symposium will be held outside of France for the first time – in Hong Kong – and will be co-hosted by the Hong Kong Police Force.

The 15th Interpol Symposium runs from March 15 to 17 at the new Hong Kong Police Headquarters. Senior officials from Interpol, will attend the event; other participants will be the heads of police training of their respective countries. The Symposium, entitled ‘Building an International Learning Community – The 15th Interpol Symposium for Heads of Police Training’, will consider a spectrum of police training issues. Speakers are: Victor LO Yik-kee, ACP, Hong Kong Police Force on training solutions to global and organised crime; Lenah Mbulawa, SACP, Botswana Police Service, on the role of training in crime prevention and crime reduction); Sun Jianguo, Deputy Bureau Head, Personnel Training, MPS China, on professionalization of police training; Antonine Rossion, Assistant Director of Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Police, Lyon, France; on new methods of training based on technology); Simon King, Head of Police Training, Home Office, UK, on developing effective modern police managers; and Jeremy Travis, President of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, on rethinking the law enforcement role in the age of terrorism.
