IP Control Systems creators of the Ingenium access control solution were established to research and develop products to facilitate the growing IP convergence marketplace.
The Ingenium product range provides a Power over Ethernet and native TCP/IP access control system. With native communication to other IP devices, such as IP Telephony and IP CCTV, the Ingenium range offers a new world of integration opportunity for access control and security applications, it is claimed.
As organisations seek to cut costs and increase productivity, enterprises today want to enable new integrated IP applications to expand the "usefulness" of the network infrastructure and maximise their technology investments, the firm says. The ideal platform for new applications is now being provided by the ability to deliver power over an Ethernet cable (IEEE 802.3af).
What they say
Paul Anderson, Managing Director IP Control Systems, says: "We see the Inline Powered Access Control System as the next logical step, providing the ability to deploy security across the enterprise utilising existing networks and cabling. Existing security systems cabled onto separate legacy networks require controllers and gateways to provide limited integration between systems. These legacy systems can be viewed as being both static and proprietary in comparison to our integrated IP systems." The Ingenium series of access control products is based on open standards and easy to use web based technologies employed within the IT industry, it is claimed.
The Ingenium IP Lock Controller uses Power over Ethernet 802.3af to actuate a range of electronic locking mechanisms at 12v and integrates natively with a host of other IP devices including IP Telephony and IP CCTV. Ingenium IP Card Readers are contactless card readers using Power over Ethernet 802.3af to provide local and remote authentication capability to a server management product. Available in HID Prox, Smart Card and the more independent Wigand gateway formats. The Ingenium IP Door Entry Panel provides an end to end IP voice and video solution for remote door entry applications, it is claimed. The makers describe Ingenium ACS Server as a scalable security management solution encompassing access control, event monitoring and reporting.
IP Control Systems reports production of the Ingenium access control solution in March 2005.
