The Private Security Authority (PSA), the Republic of Ireland’s statutory body that controls and supervises those who provide private security services reports two successful prosecutions in the Security Guard and Intruder Alarm Installer sectors in County Wicklow and County Wexford.
John Donovan Jnr., trading as Round Table Security Limited, was successfully convicted in Wexford District Court of providing Security Guard (Static) services in the Wexford region without being licensed by the Private Security Authority. Judge Gerard Houghton imposed a fine of 5,000 euros and ordered Mr Donovan to pay costs of 3,086 euros.
And Adrian Lohan, trading as Safeguard Electronic Installations Limited, was convicted in Bray District Court for breach of Section 37 of the Private Security Services Act, 2004. Judge Murrough Connellan found Mr. Lohan guilty of advertising Security Guard and Installer (intruder alarm) services without a licence. He was given 30 days to pay a fine of โฌ600 or face a five-day prison sentence.
