Island Stewarding

by msecadm4921

At the proverbial 11th hour, a contractor was asked to provide a security and stewarding plan for the campsite at the 2005 Isle of Wight Festival.

With four weeks to the event and 21,000 campers to look after, Chris Woodford, Operations Director for Firewalker Events recalls he was undeterred by the scale of the task. "We worked long into the night and had to make some quick trips to the Isle of Wight in order for us to ascertain the layouts and emergency plans that would have to be put into place. The result was a fantastic event, with over 20,000 campers spending three days safe and secure. This was a major success for the company and showed that by planning properly and implementing strict control measures that it is possible to achieve what other companies said was impossible!"

Cannock, Staffordshire-based Firewalker Events Security Ltd meanwhile have landed another events contract, becoming the preferred supplier of English Heritage for the 2005 Festival of History at Kelmarsh Hall. The festival, organisers report, brings history to life and celebrates England’s past through historical recreations, including battle displays, costumed interpretation, living history, music, dance, theatre, specialist talks and demonstrations. It’s at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire on August 13 and 14.
