Run by the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA) every two years, the three-day show ran at the Telford International Centre. Judging by the vans in the car park, locksmiths had come from Liverpool (Action Locksmiths), Stockport (APL Locksmiths), London (Alexandra Locksmiths), Cambridgeshire (Anglia Locksmiths), and, nearer, Tim Russell, locksmith and safe engineer of Bromyard, Herefordshire. Some 50 training seminars ran alongside the exhibition, which drew more than 60 stands. Among the speakers were Dave OโToole, in his fourth term as president of the European Locksmith Federation; David Small on marketing for locksmiths; Justin Freeman on British and other standards; Michael Skelding, Door and Hardware Federation secretary, on the new Kitemark scheme for lock cylinders; Clive Stone, of Primera, which makes locks and hardware for the mental health sector; and Tony Ryan of family-run company BDB Lock & Safe Limited.

Who was there?

To name a few from day one, Phil Andrews, general manager, Bolton Lock Company; Steve Scother, general manager, Barry Bros; Stephen Langley, Sentinel Locksmiths; Tim Clarke of City Lock and Safe; and Steve Stroud, finance director, RMP.
