Loss Training

by msecadm4921

Police in Colchester and Tendring are offering retail businesses the chance to improve on loss prevention by offering training courses.

Local businesses can put forward their loss prevention officers to take part in a one-day course which includes statement training, improving CCTV evidence and court skills.

Divisional training officer Pc Mark Talbot said: “Any company across Colchester and Tendring can put forward their loss prevention officer to take part in the training and already we have had some very positive feedback from the companies which have already taken part.

“We would like more companies to come forward and take part as the training is invaluable in improving how incidents are dealt with and getting a higher number of convictions.”

Linda Reakes, loss prevention services controller for East of England Co-op, had a number of loss prevention officers on the training day and said it was “extremely worthwhile”.

She said: “It was extremely worthwhile for our crime prevention officers to go along to as it gave them an insight into the current pitfalls which can so often happen if statements are not exactly what the court want. Our officers made some good new contacts with the police and have added to the skills they have already been trained in. Any business would benefit from taking part.”

Anyone who would like their business to take part in the free training can ring Pc Mark Talbot on 01206 717 683.
