The ‘Security – Whatever the Challenge’ show runs on Wednesday 24 March at New Century Hall, Corporation Street, Manchester. The event will host talks by the Bank of England and Greater Manchester Police.
Counter terrorism and business continuity issues will be the focus of the 15th annual BSIA (British Security Industry Association) Manchester Security 2010 event.
Jim Watson, managing director of Shred Easy, a confidential document and data destruction company, said: “We need to get the message to North West businesses that there are criminals targeting their businesses right now by accessing confidential data and using it for their own fraudulent means. The issue is becoming increasingly important especially ahead of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) increasing their penalties to up to £500,000 if a company is found to be failing to process confidential data properly.”
James Kelly, chief executive of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), said: "This event is essential for all Manchester businesses to find out about the latest security, business continuity and counter terrorism measures in order to better protect their premises, staff and customers. There is also a free exhibition, which will offer visitors the chance to learn about a wide range of security products and services."
The event, hosted by the BSIA, is organised in partnership with Greater Manchester Police, the Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, the British Security Industry Association and Manchester City Council.
Doors open at 9am and entry to the event is free. Shred Easy will be at stand number 5.
The event attracts around 30 exhibitors and over 200 delegates including security consultants, facility managers, local authorities, retail companies, blue chip companies, health authorities and police authorities.
