A maker of Olympic medals has installed Sensormatic?s CCTV equipment with digital recording in and around its vault.
OC Tanner is the supplier of the 2002 Winter Olympics medals. The priceless medals are kept in the medal-maker?s vault before they are handed over to the organisers of the Salt Lake City Games. OC Tanner has installed Sensormatic?s CCTV with digital recording in and around its vault. The cameras can magnify images up to 176 times their original size. Anyone entering the medals vault area will be automatically detected with a programme that automatically record unauthorised movement within a location or time, changes in light levels or the opening of a door after hours. The ability to retrieve and playback selected events within seconds saves hours of searching manually through videotapes. Just outside the vault area, Sensormatic is installing biometric access control using facial recognition. Only those people with clearance into the medals? storage area will be logged into the access system. Per-Olof Loof, Sensormatic President, adds: ?Some of the same technology that watches over the medals is being used to help law enforcement watch over the Olympic venues as well.?
