The University of Central Lancashire is hosting an afternoon seminar on crisis communication – during a hostage-taking for example – on June 25.
Taking the event is Dr Gregory M. Vecchi, PhD, Unit Chief Behavioral Science Unit, FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia, USA. He’s been a field negotiator, and has been at the unit since 2006, doing research, training, and consultation in behavioral-based conflict analysis and resolution.
Areas to be addressed will be behavioral assessment of needs, responses to conflict, instrumental versus expressive situations, when to use problem-solving versus crisis intervention, principled negotiation, active listening, and developing persuasion and influence.
