In the West End of London, the New West End Company has announced that the Red Cap warden contract has gone to MITIE Security.
The contractor will formally commence running the service from incumbent Chubb Security Personnel Ltd from June 2008.
Richard Dickinson, Chief Executive of New West End Company, said: “Chubb Security has been a key partner to New West End Company since our inception and we were pleased to have achieved such tremendous results on reducing retail crime and improving customer service with Chubb during our first term.
“Our recently renewed five-year mandate provided an opportunity to review all our contracts and seek the most suitable suppliers to deliver our street management objectives. The selection panel was delighted with the application from MITIE who provided an innovative and creative approach which will revitalise the Red Cap warden team and give the opportunity to further increase service standards and efficiencies.”

All current Red Cap warden staff members will be transferred across to the new supplier, should they wish. A full review of the Red Caps service will take place over the next few months to ensure the programme continues to meet the street management objectives of the recently adopted five year Business Plan.
