Roadchef, the UK motorway service operators, has signed a deal with Legion Group. It’s to provide the Skyguard lone worker protection service for staff working at all its motorway services.
The deal was concluded at Roadchefโs head office at Norton Canes in Staffordshire on the M6 toll road. There Roadchef Chief Executive Simon Turl said: "As with any retail business operating 24/7 these days we are always looking for ways to improve the security of our employees. The Skyguard system has proven extremely popular with our teams and we are pleased to provide this additional measure of protection."
Roadchef staff will be provided with a Skyguard 500 unit, a palm-sized alarm which can be activated discreetly by the press of a button. The call is received immediately by a controller at Legionโs 24/7 Emergency Response Centre, a new purpose built facility fully compliant with BS8484, the emerging new standard demanded by the police and other emergency services for lone worker protection systems. Using GPS and GSM technology, the control room operator can identify the caller and location of the incident and can listen in to assess the situation. An emergency response vehicle, or if appropriate the police or other emergency service, will be alerted immediately.
