Sony introduces IPELA, a suite of IP-based network video monitoring and video conferencing products.
The manufacturers report that IPELA uses the rapidly expanding IP broadband network and high-resolution imaging technology,with security, CCTV and remote monitoring applications. Users can transmit and receive visual information from cameras remotely and in real-time, and experience greater accuracy and choice of format than before, it is claimed.

Sony are showing SNC-RZ25P and SNC-RZ30P network cameras working with the Sony RealShot Manager video management software. The cameras produce pictures that can be called up and controlled remotely via an existing IP network. The integral web server can send pictures by e-mail or can be accessed by several users at the same time. The SNC-RZ25P MPEG-4 pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) network video camera incorporates Exwave-HAD technology to transmit pictures and video sequences. The pan and tilt function and an 18x optical zoom ensure that it can be used in many ways, according to the manufacturers. The optional wireless module feature means that camera signals can be transmitted over a wireless LAN radio network. And the SNC-RZ30P PTZ network video camera offers network functions besides PTZ remote control. The autofocus lens with its optical zoom (25x) and digital zoom (300x) produces sharp pictures, it is claimed, whether the subject is close or far away. Here the PTZ feature can be controlled by any web browser. The 1/6" IT super HAD CCD sensor with DSP produces picture quality even when there is very low light (2.5 lux), according to the manufacturers. RealShot Manager makes the PC the hub for monitoring networks. With this software it is possible to control up to 32 cameras per server where the number of servers in a system is not restricted, the makers reports. The range of functions and features can cope with almost any applications, it is claimed. The IP cameras, which can be grouped together, can be activated manually via the network or by means of pre-set parameters. In addition alarm and pre-alarm recording is possible while shots can be viewed while recording is taking place in all three recording modes. The search function sorts the recordings by date, alarm/ event or an attached brief comment. Other software features include definable access rights, log reports in the event of technical problems and the action editor which can set specific functions to be carried out when the alarm is triggered. The RealShot Manager’s user interface makes it easy to use even with complex monitoring networks, it is claimed. With the "layout editor", for example, building floor plans can be integrated into the picture so that users can get an overview of what is happening in previously defined action areas, by clicking the mouse. Sony offers the software in various standard versions. In addition, customised RealShotโข solutions for larger, more complex, monitoring of sites are also available.
