Regular and voluntary police officers will be on hand to support Norwich City’s promotion parade tonight, May 10.
Around 70 extra officers will be on hand to help police the operation which is expected to see tens of thousands of Canaries’ fans flock to the city.
The club is celebrating back-to-back promotion, returning to football’s Premier League next season for the first time since 2005.
Following a civic reception at City Hall, the team will parade in an open-topped bus through the city’s streets to give fans the chance to see them.
Norwich Superintendent said: “Thousands of people are expected to line the streets from Theatre Street to Castle Meadow to cheer on the Canaries.
“We will have a mix of regular police officers and members of the Special Constabulary on duty to assist with the policing of the event and to ensure the safety of the public at all times.”
Police are reminding people to keep a close eye on personal possessions in the crowds and to drink sensibly to help support what is expected to be a good-natured, family event.
