Olympics DVD

by Msecadm4921

MacLellan International, the AIM-listed facilities services company, reports it was delighted to hear of London’s winning of the 2012 Olympic Games. MacLellan was chosen to represent the FM industry in a DVD supporting the bid.

John Ellis, managing director for MacLellan, said: “We are delighted to have contributed to the success of the London bid through the DVD – this is such an achievement and we should be proud of all the hard work and contributions made by everyone involved. This really is a chance for us as a country to show what we are capable of when it comes to hosting such an extraordinary, yet challenging, event.”

There will be many companies supporting the Olympics Games in 2012, working both front-of-house and behind the scenes to ensure everything runs like clockwork. While many providers subcontract services out to smaller businesses, says MacLellan, it adds that it is proud of its ability to self-perform almost all contracts it tenders for and wins.

It provides facilities services to many businesses, in particular, specific airport services at Heathrow and Gatwick airports. MacLellan adds that it will be welcoming the many athletes and spectators attending the Games from all round the world, and smoothing their passage through the airport by providing portering services, baggage handling, and chauffeuring. The FM firm notes that from the second that Olympian and Paralympian athletes, IOC officials, heads of state, guests and visitors to the Games land at Heathrow or Gatwick through to the closing ceremony, they could all have passed through MacLellan’s hands, often without even noticing. The services the firm provides include security and event stewarding, M&E maintenance programmes covering everything from air conditioning to building fabric maintenance, health and safety, cleaning, catering, admin and secretarial services, waste management and recycling, car park control, concierge, external landscaping and grounds maintenance.

The House of Fraser, meanwhile, has awarded MacLellan International the contract for its new store in Dublin. The new store, House of Fraser’s first in the Republic of Ireland, is located in the brand new Dundrum Shopping Centre, the largest mall in Ireland.

The contract provides a 25-strong team of MacLellan employees, overseen by area manager Susan Coghlan. The scope of the contract, based around daytime cleaning includes everything from a morning clean to janitorial services. It comprises store, office, toilets and rest rooms, changing rooms, and restaurant cleaning, as well as consumable and waste management.

Andrew Conaty, MacLellan’s Regional General Manager for Ireland said, “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract with House of Fraser. It’s great to be working at their first store in the Republic of Ireland, the flagship store of the largest mall in Europe. We have worked extremely hard, and very closely with the client at several levels, to ensure we were able to mobilise on time, to coincide with the opening of the store.”

The team at House of Fraser, Dundrum is led by House of Fraser Store Manager Jean Ann Taylor and Operations Manager Steve Clarke. They have been kept informed by the MacLellan team of all planned decisions and provided input on the way they would like the contract to be managed.

Steve Plant, Head of Retail Operations at House of Fraser commented, “From the beginning we have been very impressed at the way MacLellan approached first the tender process, and then the contract mobilisation. Our Dundrum store is new and strategically important to our development in Ireland and it’s important we are working with partners who reflect our own aspirations and values. MacLellan’s ability to work with our people is fundamentally important to the success of this contract.”
