ONVIF, the IP-based physical security product standardisation body, held its third public interoperability demonstration and open reception during the Security Essen 2010 show in October in Germany.
Seventeen companies showed their ONVIF-conformant products. They were in alphabetical order Axis, AxxonSoft, Bosch, Brickcom, Dallmeier, Exacq, Hikvision, Ingrasys, Koukaam, Milestone, Optelecom-NKF, Panasonic, Samsung, Siemens, Sony, Vivotek and Win4Net. All the camera demonstrators brought their ONVIF-conformant products to the site and connected to the ONVIF-conformant network video clients (video management systems). The cameras connected to the clients and showed, say the organisers, how easy the specification works and the spirit of California-based ONVIF as an open industry forum. Jonas Andersson, chairman of ONVIF Steering Committee, said: “About one year ago, there were about 100 members in ONVIF, and now there are over 200. And with over 300 ONVIF conformant products available in the market, as well as the success of this demonstration, it is proven that ONVIF is going to provide a convincing answer to standardisation and global interoperability.” Visit –
