Philips CSI has added Personal Security and Location Detection to their DECT6000 cordless telephone and paging system. In addition to general on-site communications applications, the DECT6000 handsets are also a solution for more difficult or dangerous environments where staff, security personnel or lone workers need protection from danger or aggression – applications include security operations, staff in hospitals and psychiatric institutions, prisons, schools, DHSS offices, warehouses, as well as hazardous areas in petrochemical or industrial plants. As well as cordless telephone facilities with full internal and external call capability via a PABX, plus 40 character alphanumeric paging on an individual or group basis, the Personal Security handsets feature a special red-button allowing users to summon help. When the help button is pressed, the operator is alerted and can listen in to determine the nature of the problem and talk to the user if required. The alarm can also automatically trigger paging alerts and calls to other users or groups such as supervisors, security staff, cardiac teams, rescue teams etc. for faster response. Another option enhancement is Location Detection which allows the location of the handset to be instantly determined to speed up response allowing help to be dispatched more quickly to the right location.
