Liverpool John Lennon Airport has extended its contract with the UK parking product manufacturer, APT SkiData. This comes following the development of a new five level multi-storey car park.

The new contract includes installation of its barriers and Easy.Cash pay-on-foot technology, and a new central control room (using the latest APT SkiData V18 software) from where all of the car parks serving the airport will now be controlled.

Working with SCC as a sub-contractor to Bovis, APT SkiData engineers have installed entry/exit barriers on two lanes, with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) on both to allow for future on-line reservations and parking. Two Easy.Cash pay stations and one Credit.Cash terminal have been installed on the ground level at the point where passengers enter the car park, and on the third storey, that is due to adjoin the main passenger terminal via a suspended walkway later in the year.

Neil Phillipson, Car Park Operations Manager at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, says: "We are very pleased with the upgrade in technology from APT450 to APT460 system and all the benefits this brings, including ease of access and maintenance.

"The APT460 is more reliable, has uncomplicated handling and cost saving features for all the components that are already apparent, and we are now in the process of upgrading our drop off car park equipment."

The Easy.Cash station offers technology for users to make payments in cash (banknotes and coins) or by credit and debit cards, and loyalty card. Where Chip and Pin is required, the Easy.Cash station is designed to accommodate the necessary user pin pad and the EMV control board. Easy.Cash uses Coder Unlimited, APT SkiData’s new automated ticket handling technology, making it possible to process all kinds of ticket type, including mag-stripe, crosswise barcodes and also lengthwise barcodes.

Easy.Cash – and its Credit-Cash counterpart – is part of APT SkiData’s APT450 range and is the firm says suitable for all types of installations, from citywide car park networks and shopping centres to airports and hospitals. The APT 450 software has been upgraded and now runs on Windows XP and all the visible hardware elements of the range are manufactured from high-grade steel, cast aluminium and polycarbonate and require it’s claimed only minimal maintenance. With regard to its aesthetics and design, the range now offers a grey, silver and charcoal colour scheme.
