The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) reports that it can now offer NSI Cash Services Gold approved companies access to the Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) via the Passport route.
As reported in the March issue of Professional Security Magazine, NSI was recently announced as the first SIA Assessing Body able to offer ACS Passport route access to its Guarding Gold approved companies, which came into effect on April 1. โPassportingโ offers NSI Guarding Gold and now Cash Services Gold-approved companies an additional access option when applying for SIA approved contractor status. NSI approved companies choosing this route must meet a new NSI passport specification but will not be required to go through a separate ACS assessment. Hence, as the NSI says, potential cost savings.

Andrew White, NSIโs Chief Executive said: โNSI were proud to be the first SIA Assessing Body to offer the ACS Passport route to NSI Guarding Gold approved companies when this was announced earlier this year. We are pleased that we have been successful in achieving this option for Cash Services Gold approved companies to follow so quickly. Since we announced the Passport option for Guarding Gold companies, we have seen a significant interest from approved companies wishing to take advantage of the benefits of this routeโ. The inspectorate adds that by combining NSI Cash Services or Guarding Gold with SIA approved contractor status, a company demonstrates that it works to the highest level of standards available to manned security companies. For NSI approval, this includes working to relevant British Standards and for the ACS, there are additional measures such as Corporate Social Responsibility.
