IRISYS Smart People Counters and Trackers are based on defence sensing technology, developed for commercial use. The makers report they are being used in retail complexes and stores to provide data on the number of people entering, tracking their direction and time spent at advertising and promotion points, enabling the analysis of the behaviour of customers as they shop. IRISYS believe that this same product could have applications in the security industry.
The use of IRISYS detection, counting and tracking devices within buildings, complexes and secure areas could improve security management, the company says. IRISYS people counters and trackers can work with CCTV monitoring systems, and their use within the retail and transport industries has already proved that these detectors can cope with large volumes of traffic and provide instant usable information, the makers claim. The manufacturers suggest these units could provide warning of people illegally entering buildings or using connecting passageways from the wrong direction, or making possible alarmed exclusion areas around sensitive or dangerous machinery and equipment. The IRISYS people counter detects the heat given out by moving people and objects ?seeing? them as ?hot blobs?, indoors or outdoors, says Steve Hollock, IRISYS Sales and Marketing Director.
