Four new plastic card printers have been launched by NBS Technologies. The Javelin J210 colour and Javelin J205 monochrome printers have been developed for low volume applications and personalisation of plastic cards on demand. Their small footprint, at 320 mm by 179 mm, is less than the desk space needed by many business phones. Together with ultra-quiet operation this makes them well suited to counter-top applications where workspace is at a premium. Operator-friendly features include front card loading and output, quick-load ribbon replacement, and an easy-to-change cleaning cartridge. The J210 will personalise a card in full colour, edge-to-edge at 300 dpi resolution within 30 seconds, making it ideal for a wide range of identification purposes ? from secure ID, access control and membership, to promotion, visitor cards and badges. The J205 will print text, bar codes or logos onto plain or pre-printed plastic cards in only four seconds. The printer is designed especially for retailers, clubs and other organisations who need to issue loyalty cards, membership or visitor badges to their customers. Magnetic stripe encoding is an option and the printers come with a choice of two dual interfaces (USB and parallel or USB and serial) for easy integration into any system. Applications for these two Javelin printers include personalised customer loyalty cards, ID cards, employee and visitor badges, club membership cards, library cards, retail gift certificate cards, hotel door keys, business cards and luggage tags. First shipments of the Javelin J210 and J205 will be made to NBS dealers worldwide early in the New Year. Peter Mann, Managing Director of NBS, said: ?NBS is well known for its innovative designs. This can print full colour photocards in around 25 seconds, with edge-to-edge colour, and can be supplied with a range of packaged solutions for encoding both contact and contactless smart cards. Its sister model, the NBS Javelin 430, has been designed specifically for double-sided colour card printing. It provides an economical solution for users who have high performance requirements or need to personalise batches of cards. Double-sided photo ID cards can be printed in around 35 seconds.
