Police Identity

by Msecadm4921

City of London Police (CoLP) has selected NEC to implement what the manufacturer calls key modules of its Advanced Identity Suite.

The initial phase of work shall encompass the provision of NEC’s web-based Identity Management System, with installation of and integration with the JANUS access control system at the Wood Street, Bishopsgate and Snow Hill police stations.

NEC will supply smartcards that contain the necessary printed security features required to enable visual verification, as well as enabling physical access to premises. The cards provided will be dual interface (contact and contactless), pre-loaded with NEC applications to easily allow for the possible future implementation of biometric network access and remote network access modules.

What they say

Gary Brailsford, Information Manager of the City of London Police, says: “Our initial requirement called for the implementation of a robust physical access control solution for the police stations in question. However, we are well aware of the vital benefits that a solution that converges physical and network access modules can provide. NEC’s clear understanding of, and experience in, delivering a complete identity management solution, coupled with their position as the leader in biometric identity solutions, was instrumental in our decision to work with them.” Carl Gohringer, Business Development Manager of NEC Security Solutions, says: “We are pleased that the City of London Police has selected NEC to assist them in managing their identities across the force. An effective identity management solution is not simply achieved by implementing individual technologies, but by providing a high quality approach to confirm, review or disable identities on a regular basis. Our unified web-based solution results in reduced administration by providing a single location to manage all identities for all physical and logical applications across the organisation.”
