Biometrics manufacturer Visionics has launched a new portable system

Biometrics manufacturer Visionics has launched its new Portable and Modular Live Scan Systems. The new live scan systems, which capture fingerprint images without the use of ink, are available as modular, desktop, or in transportable configurations for use in remote applications. The systems include a fingerprint capture deck and either a laptop server or standard PC workstation for a portable case or as a modular desktop setup, respectively. The new systems use Visionics? third generation, high resolution, single platen optic deck for capturing slap images and rolled fingerprint images and are expected to receive Appendix F certification shortly. (Appendix F certification refers to the FBI?s highest level of Image Quality Specification (IQS) for submittal to the IAFIS database.) Dr. Joseph J. Atick, chairman and CEO of Visionics says: ?Visionics has always been committed to providing superior products, excellent customer service and flexibility in meeting customer requirements. With the expansion of the fingerprint background check requirement on employees, the Modular Live Scan system makes live scan technology available to all airports, large and small. In addition, its small form factor and low cost makes it an attractive alternative to smaller police departments, banks and other commercial and law enforcement entities who have space and budgetary constraints, yet have growing demand for applicant and criminal background checks. We are confident that this new system will be well-received by the market place.? Visionics? live scan systems are already in use by nine FAA designated Category X airports and the INS for employment and applicant processing. In addition, the systems are used in over 500 correctional facilities, police departments, and Sheriff?s offices around the country. See www.visionics.com.
