New from Siemens Building Technologies Division, Security Products business segment, its second generation E-Line motion detector range.
The company says that its E-Line detectors are suitable for a range of applications including residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The single and dual technology detectors are designed the firm adds to meet all the requirements of installers and has been independently tested to EN 50131-2-2:2008 and EN 50131-2-4:2008.
Compared with traditional systems E-Line detectors reduce the amount of preparation and installation time by up to 50 per cent, making them the fastest detectors to install on the market it’s claimed. They are available with or without anti-mask functionality which is used to detect attempts to blind a detector by blocking its field of view. Furthermore they have built-in adjustable sensitivity and feature pet immunity.
By using Siemens End of Line (EoL) concept, the detectors eliminate manual resistor wiring and lessen the risk of wiring errors. They also feature Siemens tried and tested โsnap-inโ cover concept which reduces the risk of contamination and damage to sensitive optics and electronics. The snap-in design also allows detectors to be easily replaced or upgraded from single to dual technology, Grade 2 to Grade 3 and even from a wired to a wireless version.
The EoL technology also means that the detectors meet all European wiring standards as they can use the UKโs two wire system as well as the four and six wire configuration used across the rest of Europe.
With five products in the range, each detectorโs PIR and microwave sensitivity settings can be adjusted separately. These adjustments ensure the best detection regardless of the environment or application constraints. The detectors feature a pre-set 12m detection range, which can be adjusted down to 6m or up to 18m.
Traditional detectors often cannot handle pet immunity and creep zone protection at the same time on the same product, resulting in the need to compromise or install different types of detectors. The E-Line Grade 3 detectors with antimask enable 12kg pet immunity to be combined with a look down zone, preventing attacks from underneath the unit. This is accomplished without it’s claimed any loss of creep zone capability, which prevents an intruder from accessing the secured premises by going directly below the detector. False alarms are further reduced thanks to white light compensation of up to 10,000 Lux by applying a special white light filter. Sensors are protected by a sealed chamber which protects them against draughts and insects.
To complement the E-Line detectors Siemens offers a range of control panels, operational devices and peripherals to fit the firm says all applications and requirements. The detectors are also compatible with the most commonly available control panels on the market.
Matthias Droll, product manager E-Line detectors, said: โThis second generation E-Line range represents a significant improvement in flexibility and reliability on the previous version. By using our world renowned expertise we are able to provide installers with a solution which will help them save time on installations, improve their profit margins and provide the end user with a solution that has an unsurpassed level of performance.โ
