Finnish access control product firm Idesco has added to its EPC product family for vehicle and industrial uses.
The Idesco EPC IA is a UHF product supporting an additional antenna and anti-collision to enable simultaneous detection and querying of multiple tags. The EPC IA has an enlarged reading area, the manufacturers report. For example, the product can effectively treat its antennas as two distinct readers, so a user can deploy it for specialised tasks. With its two antennas deployed in interval or oblique orientations, the reader can identify a moving tagโs direction. Or with a more opposed antenna orientation, a reader can administer both exit and entry traffic in a parking garage, eliminating the costs of an extra reader and road loops for another exit route. Or, for tamper proof security, you can deploy the readerโs extra antenna outside your building, with the remainder of the unitโs electronics housed inside.
Anti-collision, another feature of the Idesco EPC IA, is the consequence of its enhanced read buffer, giving a storage capacity of up to 200 tag events (or 100 for each of two antennas). This buffer stores read events before serial processing, protecting against data loss if confronted with a temporarily dense sequence of tag read events. One application for this is zone monitoring in industrial, warehouse or some retail store settings that are limited to tracking objects or products with passive tags.
Idescoโs EPC IA reader is configurable to either RS232 or Wiegand connections and Ethernet connection is also available on request.
