The Security Research Initiative, a research project that aims to shed new light on industry trends and end users, has a new sponsor: distributor Norbain.
As a ‘member’ of the Security Research Initiative Norbain will have the opportunity to help shape the research as well as benefit from early access to its findings. Professor Martin Gill of the research consultancy PRCI which is a ‘spin out’ company from the University of Leicester, the British Security Industry Association, ASIS International and The Security Institute launched the Security Research Initiative in January 2005.
What they say
Dermot Grace, Managing Director of Norbain SD, says: "Most research in the security industry is focused on broad trends within the industry and, in particular, the economic value of the industry and its constituent sectors. The SRI takes a quite different approach with its focus on end user perceptions, the structural nature of the industry and the effectiveness of security equipment and services. Unique research such as this has our wholehearted support, as the results will undoubtedly help pinpoint issues within the industry or opportunities for further growth and development. Business is all about knowing your market-place and the SRI is dedicated to helping the industry understand this with ever greater clarity."
Professor Martin Gill adds: "Norbain’s commitment to the SRI is a tremendous boost to the project. We hope it will give many other organisations in the industry the confidence to support this initiative which has the potential to help everyone in the security sector refine their focus and improve the quality of their delivery to the end user."
