Dectel at stand C77 at IFSEC is showing its new Smart FACE id CCTV, a system for retailers based on biometrics face recognition.
Also on view will be Dectel?s new Digital Image Management package for CCTV users. Smart FACE id uses recognition technology – FaceIt from US manufacturer Visionics – to identify known offenders, including those subject to exclusion orders. Within seconds, the new system can tell the store security manager that someone previously identified as an undesirable shopper is visiting. Connected to security cameras in the store, the system captures the facial images of people as they move into CCTV line-of-vision. The Smart FACE id software program then compares each new image with a facial image database of people known to pose a security risk. If no match is found the image is discarded. If a database match is found it is automatically transmitted to a handheld display carried by a store detective, or to a CCTV control room. Dectel?s Digital Image Management service is designed to help analogue CCTV users maximise the benefits of switching to digital recording. In essence, Dectel takes over responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the CCTV system dispensing with the need for any intervention by customers? branch or head office staff and thereby removing the potential problem of non-security personnel being tasked with changing tapes, filling in tape logs, and so on. Dectel operates an image management service for CCTV and security camera users, including image quality audits, a tape reconditioning service and tape supply. The company is also a supplier of traffic camera film to UK police forces and is approved to ISO9002.
