Riots: London Latest

by Msecadm4921

As of September 8, the Metropolitan Police (the Met) reports that it has now arrested a total of 2343 (adults: 1823 and juveniles: 520) people in connection with violence, disorder and looting. Of those arrested, a total of 1365 (adults: 1057 and juveniles: 308) have been charged to date.

??The Met say that they continue to work closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure that cases are processed as quickly as possible. A large number of people have appeared in court and while some have already been convicted and received prison sentences, many cases have been remanded to Crown Court. On Tuesday, August 30, detectives from Operation Withern released a further 31 images of people that the Met would like to speak with in relation to recent disorder affecting parts of London. POlice say that their priority is to bring to justice those who have committed violent and criminal acts. As the detailed and thorough investigation progresses police are issuing photographs of people who were in the vicinity of the disorder and who may be able to help officers with their enquiries. The images relate to the looting and violent disorder in Haringey and Newham on August 7 to 9. ??Flickr is hosting the photos so that the public can help the Met identify those who committed violent and criminal acts on London’s streets. Anyone who recognises individuals in the photographs or has any information about the disorder or images or footage they would like to share should contact the investigation team on 020 8345 4142. Or anyone can report crime and provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
