Riots have happened outside the main cities and the capital. Here is news from Gloucester and Leicester from the night of August 9 to 10.

Gloucestershire Police reported that from 11pm on Tuesday night, into the small hours of Wednesday they have been dealing with disorder within Gloucester.<br><br>Initially the force began to receive reports of anti social behaviour and vandalism, including a bin being set alight in Barton Street.<br><br>Within the next hour groups of youths, some with their faces covered, were reported to be causing other disruption elsewhere in the city, including attacking shop windows in the city centre. Shortly after midnight reports came in of a fire at a derelict college building in Brunswick Road. Bottles and rocks were thrown at police vehicles.<br><br>Gloucestershire Deputy Chief Constable Mick Matthews said: "What we have seen taking place in Gloucester overnight have been copycat incidents which do not appear to have been coordinated in anyway. While we had hoped this type of criminality would not take place here, we were well prepared, as were our colleagues in partner agencies.<br><br>"Local people have, we believe, been the perpetrators, committing offences within their own communities. While the disorder here has not been on the same scale as elsewhere in the country, involving perhaps 60 people at most, it has undoubtedly been very disturbing and is causing concern for local people. I would like to reassure people that we and our partners have been working together to deal with this, and we have control of the situation.<br><br>"This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are now identifying those responsible, arresting them and will be putting them through the criminal justice system."<br><br>Police arrested nine Gloucester men.<br><br>In Leicester, on the night of August 9 to 10, windows were damaged at some shops at the Highcross Shopping Centre, Granby Street, Humberstone Gate and around the cultural quarter. There some 13 people have been arrested.
