Risk Info

by msecadm4921

A Japanese university has brought in a UK crisis response support system for its students and staff travelling abroad.

Waseda sought to increase security for more than 1,000 students and staff who travel and work overseas each year. Risk management company red24 will provide red24alert security information regularly. In cases of natural disaster, crime or terrorism, response consulting by rescue and evacuation staff will be provided on an individual basis. red24, a division of ARC Risk Management Group Plc, was approached because the university decided that, given the increase in terrorism and natural disasters, it was essential to increase security for students and staff who travelled abroad. The contract means that Waseda will cover red24’s services for designated travellers for the duration of their stay. Specific users can have the service free if they register through the university’s intranet. Users can call a specific toll free number which will connect to the red24/7 call centre, and discuss matters with consultants in Japanese. The user’s family members can use the service to confirm someone’s safety. Depending on the situation, consultants will be deployed to the destination to deal with a case, where necessary securing a route for emergency evacuation. Waseda contracted the service through US insurer AIG International Services.
