Unique Integrated Systems, has recently completed the installation of what the installer calls an integrated system at Westwood Park; a new build project that will provide a new headquarters and administrative centre for Wigan Council.
The project, which encompasses two purpose built office developments, entailed the supply, installation and commissioning of intruder alarm, access control and CCTV systems, all backed by remote video surveillance. Carried out with electrical contractor, Hills Electrical, the work began in June 2004 and was completed on time in October.
UIS installed a range of equipment, including JVC dome cameras, Dedicated Micros digital video recorder (DVR) and Smartel remote video surveillance. All of the equipment is monitored over the client’s own Wide Area Network, which enables cost savings to be made in comparison with traditional transmission systems, according to the installer. Guardall and Honeywell intruder alarm equipment was used to protect the building, and Cotag access control used on 16 internal and external doors.
The new development will accommodate about 700 council staff in two buildings of three floors, all with on site parking. Staying on schedule during a project of this scale necessitated clear and regular communication between UIS, the client and other contractors working on site, the installer reports. UIS adds that it also offers a dedicated and bespoke CCTV and intruder and access maintenance service. Unique Integrated Services is an NSI approved Gold Medal installer.
